What does content development in writing means?

Content means what a writing work contains. Therefore, content development can be defined simply as how to develop the content of your writing. Content development of writing is a process. Also, the process of developing the content of your writing is determined by the type of writing you are producing.

Basic Process of content development of writing

Like I earlier said, content development is a process. And, in order to get a beautiful piece of writing, the process should be followed from first to last. Let us quickly look at the 4 basic process which can be utilized either you are an academic writer, blog writer, technical writer, etc.

What do you know about the topic you want to write about?

The first thing to ask yourself during content development phase of writing is this. Is your topic a recent topic or a long standing topic? Does your topic have some history behind it or not? Is your topic a controversial one or not? This is the part I call introduction.

Any definition of terms to make your topic clear?
This second stage of content development is necessary. Do not assume your audience should understand some terms in your topic. Give the definition of the terms in your topic as it relate with one another.

Does your topic have related subtopics or subcategories?
No single topic can be in isolation; it will always be related in some ways to other topics. Make research about related subtopics, their relationship, effects, merits and demerits. This gives you the insight to develop the content of your own subtopic uniquely and knowledgeably.

Write for your audience

We can be writing on the same topic but for a different audience. This different audience would surely influence our individual content. Therefore, as you develop your content through subtopics, understand your content and know what they want and need. This will prevent your work from being boring.

    1. Thank you Rofiat.
      How to target your audience.
1.) The first question to ask is who are your audience? Is it the adult, parents, working class, adolescents or youth, aged people, even children?

2.) The next question is what is their age range

3.) Then you move to, characteristic of the people in their age range and what you can write to draw their attention

For instance if you are blog writing to parents using the word “its plenty” might not make much sense to them, compared to the adults

      I hope this help
